This page explains what BitSpend collects when you use the public directory, and how that information is used. BitSpend is a directory of businesses that may accept cryptocurrency. Browsing listings does not require an account.

Information you send us

If you use the contact form, we store the name, email address, topic, and message you submit so we can read it and reply. We do not ask for a wallet address, a payment, or an account password on that form.

If you use the Add Listing form, we store the business details you enter, including the name, contact email, phone, website, logo address, location, hours, and the coins you say you accept. Those submissions stay in a review queue and are marked as coming from that form. They are not published until BitSpend reviews them.

Business details shown in a listing, such as a name, address, website, phone number, or logo, are published so shoppers can find that business. Those details are part of the public directory.

Information collected while you browse

The web server may record standard request details, such as your IP address, browser type, the page you requested, and the date and time. Those records are used to operate the site, troubleshoot errors, and protect it from abuse.

Public pages use Google Analytics to measure visits, including pages viewed and general information about the browser and device. Google processes that data under its own terms. BitSpend does not use analytics to identify you by name.

Cookies

The contact form and the Add Listing form each use a short-lived session cookie so the page can check the characters you type. Google Analytics may set its own cookies to distinguish visits. You can block or delete cookies in your browser. Blocking them can stop those checks from working and can limit visit measurement.

How we use this information

We use contact messages to respond to questions, listing corrections, and requests about featured placement. We use server records and analytics to keep the site running and to understand which pages are used. We do not sell personal information.

Payments

BitSpend does not process payments and does not collect cryptocurrency, card numbers, or other payment details. A purchase happens with the merchant, on that merchant’s own site or premises.

Other sites

Listings may link to merchant websites, maps, and payment pages that BitSpend does not control. Those sites have their own privacy practices.

How long we keep contact messages

We keep contact messages for as long as we need them to respond and to keep a record of the request. You can ask us to delete a message you sent by using the contact form.

Children

The directory is meant for people looking for businesses that accept cryptocurrency. It is not directed at children.

We may update this page by posting a new version here. The “last updated” date will change when we do.
